An Unforgettable Experience Awaits

Our Seafood Tour will depart from The Railway Pier in Bantry and first explore points of interest in Bantry Bay.  You will enjoy watching out for wildlife and numerous birds that frequent the area as we make our way around the inner harbour.  Then we will visit our lobster pots to see if we have caught any lobster or crab overnight and head in the direction of the mussel lines which are dotted around the bay.  You will learn about the Bantry Bay mussel farms and their importance to locals, and hopefully get a chance to stop and chat to local fisherman busy on their trawlers harvesting the mussels or tending to their mussel lines.

You will enjoy an introduction to the rich maritime history of Bantry Bay, including Wolfe Tone and the battle of 1796.  We will then visit the historic Whiddy Island for a sharing bowl of freshly cooked Bantry Bay mussels, served with homemade Irish brown bread and a glass of Guinness.

After you have enjoyed your taste of mussels, you will then have the option to either return to Bantry where your trip will end, or you have the opportunity to remain on Whiddy Island.

If you decide to stay on Whiddy Island, we will take the boat back to Bantry and you can return to Bantry at your leisure a little bit later on the island ferry for free - we will advise of the ferry timetable for a suitable time.

If you stay on Whiddy Island, you can explore this historic and beautiful island on foot or hire a bike, go for a swim or simply relax and enjoy refreshments and food from the only pub on the island, Bank House and simply watch the world go by overlooking Bantry Bay.
